    POLICY

    PRIVATE MUSIC INSTRUCTORS

In order to supplement instrumental music instruction for student in grades 7–12, the following policy will be in effect:

Private instructors approved by the Board of School directions will be permitted to give private lessons on school time to those students who desire this instruction. The cost of the lesson will be paid by the student directly to the private music instructor. Students participating in this program may be released for private music instruction only during study halls or at any times when they are not in regularly assigned classes.

    RATIONALE:

This policy will make it possible for parents to provide for private music instruction during the day rather than after school or Saturday. In addition, opportunities will be given to students for expert instruction equal to the ability and talent of advanced students. The instrumental teachers employed by the district are not relieved in any way of their responsibility or assignments. It is understood that they are responsible for all instrumental lessons on school time for grades four through six and for group lessons at the secondary level.
