    POLICY

PERIODIC REVIEW OF STUDENTS PLACED IN DISTRICT’S ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM (START)

One week prior to the conclusion of each semester the secondary principals and START Program teachers, along with at least one teacher representative of the District Discipline Committee, will meet to review the behavior and academic records of each student enrolled in the START Program. The purpose of this review will be to determine whether or not the various students have made enough progress, behaviorally and academically, to be returned to the regular school program.

Parents and students will be informed, in writing, of the results of this review. If in the event a student is recommended for return to the regular school program, a meeting will be convened, prior to the new semester, to discuss the transition steps. The student’s parents, the student, the school principal(s), and a counselor will be present at that meeting.
