    The Susquehanna Township School District is committed to supporting a school environment that promotes student wellness, nutrition education and physical activity as part of the total learning experience.


    All schools in the district will offer curriculum and programs that are designed to educate students about proper nutrition and physical activity, in accordance with the Pennsylvania Department of Education regulations and academic standards.


    All foods and beverages sold or served at school will progressively meet the required nutritional standards published by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Child Nutrition Division.


    All schools in the district that participate in the National School Lunch Program and National School Breakfast Program will comply with the federal, state and local requirements.


    Nutritional content of all foods and beverages sold in the school meal program will be available to all students, staff, parents and guardians. 


    Schools shall be responsible for monitoring nutrition and physical activities to ensure compliance with the Wellness Policy. School district administration shall annually review guidelines, regulations and make recommendations to the Wellness Committee.


    The Wellness Committee shall meet annually to evaluate the district’s strategic plan as it applies to this policy. The committee, with representation from all buildings, shall consist of a School Board member, school administration representative, district food service representative, physical education teacher, family and consumer science teacher, elementary education teacher, student, parent/guardian, and other individuals chosen by the committee.
