POLICY

 REQUESTS FOR LEAVE WITHOUT PAY

The request of those staff members employed for the school year to be absent with payroll deduction from school responsibilities (other than that specified in the School Code or the negotiated contract) for vacations and personal travel will not be honored by the Board of Education.

Employees are to serve the full contracted work year with the exception of approved sick leave, death leave, and temporary leaves of absence as stated in the negotiated contract or in the Employment Conditions Policy 6020.   An emergency situation can be brought to the Superintendent’s attention for action.

It is recognized that unusual opportunities may become available to employees and that such opportunities are not always able to be scheduled around employment duties. Therefore, the superintendent may approve one request per employee for personal leave without pay for up to five (5) days during such employee’s employment by the School District. Such a written request shall be made at least fifteen (15) days prior to the start of requested personal leave without pay.
