    In conformance with Act 128 of 2000, the School District is required to adopt a policy regulating tobacco use by persons other than pupils. 


    “Tobacco” includes a lighted or unlighted cigarette, cigar, pipe or other smoking product or material and smokeless tobacco in any form.


    “Pupil” means a person who is at least 6 years of age but not more than 21 years of age and who is enrolled in school. For purposes of this policy, this definition shall not include an individual 18 years of age or older who is enrolled in an adult education program provided by the School District. 


    Tobacco use by any person is prohibited in all school buildings; and on buses, vans or other vehicles owned by, leased by, or under the control of the School District. Tobacco use by a person other than a pupil is permitted outdoors in areas at least 50 feet away from any school building, stadium, bleachers or athletic field.



    This Policy shall be effective on April 24, 2001
