    POLICY

     EMPLOYMENT OF CLASSIFIED PERSONNEL

     

    Classified personnel shall mean non-professional employees and employees who are not required to hold a valid certificate from the Pennsylvania Department of Education pursuant to Section 1201 of the Public School Code in order to perform their assigned duties. Classified personnel shall include, but not be limited to aides, cafeteria workers, transportation workers, custodial and maintenance workers, secretaries, bookkeepers and other such employees.

     

    No employment of classified personnel shall be valid and binding upon the School District until such employment shall have been approved at a public meeting of the Board of School Directors.

     

    The compensation of all classified personnel shall be fixed by the Board of School Directors and no other employee of the School District shall have the power to either fix or alter the compensation of classified personnel.

     

    No administrator or other employee of the School District is authorized to take any action or give any assurance which could be construed as conferring upon classified personnel any property right to continued employment, it being intended that no action or indulgence by any school administrator or officer shall be construed as conferring upon any classified personnel any right to continued employment, it being intended that no such rights shall exist.
