Dear Parents and Guardians,                                                                         

 

                The months following the holiday season are very productive and the Holtzman students have shown a great deal of growth. Our continual review of the progress our students have made over the last five months is encouraging, and as a staff, we have projected new goals for student achievement for the next four months and the end of the academic school year.

 

     As spring approaches, it is also time to start thinking about PSSA exams.  The Department of Education has scheduled the exams to begin in mid-March through April.  Fifth graders will begin the testing with the PSSA writing exam during the week of March 11th.  All Holtzman Elementary students will take the Reading and Math exams beginning April 8th.  Finally, 4th grade students will take the Science PSSA exam the week of April 22nd.  Specific schedules will be provided as the time for the assessment nears.  As always, it is important to establish good habits of rest the night before school, in addition to a good breakfast in the morning.  Finally, please be sure to plan out-of-school appointments around the testing dates as test make-ups always create a challenge for the school and most of all, the students. 

 

Spring Picture Day is scheduled for Monday, February 25th.
