MAY NEWSLETTER

Dear Parents and Guardians,                                                                                                                          May5, 2012

            Greetings from Holtzman Elementary!  The last few weeks have been bursting withactivities for our students and parents. Our students enjoyed an informative and entertaining Box Out Bullyingassembly followed up with a parent workshop on May 1^st.  Our Fine Arts Night was well-attended as wasour second annual Moms and Muffins.  Itwas very rewarding to see the children perform and have the opportunity to hostso many parents.

            I also had the privilege of attending our Spring Band Concerton April 26^th.  At theperformance, our fourth and fifth grade students played beautifully.  For many students, this was the firstopportunity they have had to play for an audience and it marks the beginning ofa talented and successful musical career. More musical performances will be coming up in the next few weeks, sokeep your eye on the calendar for upcoming events. 

Withthe month of May already in full swing, there are many school activities inaddition to musical performances.  Nextweek, on May 10^th and 11^th, we will be hosting our annualvisiting authors, John Gallagher and Jimmy Gownley. Our May Fair will also beheld on Saturday, May 12^th from 11:00am-3:00pm.  The weather looks to be favorable, too!  Please check the district calendar for otherimportant events. 

            Please note the end-of-year awards assemblies, field day,and end-of-year celebrations.

            Finally, I’d like to take this opportunity to ask foryour assistance in ensuring that our students finish the year in style.  As the weather warms and summer seemsevident, it becomes more incumbent upon us to keep our students focused on thebusiness of school.  On behalf of theteachers, we can really use your help in our efforts to get the most out ofevery moment of learning time before school is out.
