Free Breakfast & Lunch Now Available for ALL Students:
Susquehanna Township School District has been approved to feed students FREE Breakfast and Lunch while they are in school and at home during the online sessions. This USDA approval is until December 31, 2020 as long as funding is available from the Department of Education. STSD is not approved to serve students free all year, this is a program that was offered during the summer months and PDE has continued until December 31, 2020. Just to reiterate this approval is until December 31, 2020 as long as funding is available.
Please encourage your student to take advantage of this opportunity to eat breakfast and lunch and to also take home the bagged breakfast and lunch meals that will be provided to them on Thursday every week to enjoy at home on Friday.
In addition, families who feel they would qualify for free or reduced meals must still complete a 2020.2021 PA Household Application for Free and Reduced Price School Meals if they haven’t already received an eligibility determination letter from the food service department. Once the USDA funding runs out if your family doesn’t have an approved Free and Reduced Price School Meals application on file all student meals will be billed to their meal account.
Important Free & Reduced Application Information
If your student was approved for free or reduced meals for the 2019.2020 school year, that application will expire on October 21, 2020. If a new Pennsylvania Household Application for Free & Reduced Price School Meals isn't received prior to that October deadline, students will be required to pay full price for school meals and parents will be responsible for the charges accumulated.
A free & reduced meals application must be completed and submitted every school year as the application does not carry over year after year. STSD students will only qualify for free or reduced meals with an approved current school year free & reduced meals application on file with the food service office. The only exception would be if you receive a notice of direct certification from the food service department each year prior to the start of the school year. Again this letter must be received each year as it does not carry over year to year. When in doubt please contact the food service department for clarification.
If you are new to the district and feel you may qualify for meal assistance, a free & reduced meals application must be completed prior to the assistance being received. In addition, if you received free or reduced meals at a previous district you must contact us immediately so that the necessary information is received by the food service office. New students who do not have an approved current school year application on file with the food service department will pay full price for their meals and parents will be responsible for the charges accumulated.

If you do not have access to a printer, please contact the food service office to make other arrangements to complete an application. If you receive a negative balance notification from the food service department and you feel this was sent in error, please contact us immediately to avoid accumulation of additional charges.
Nutrition plays a vital role in a student's ability to learn effectively and is important in ensuring The Success of Every Learner. The STSD Food Services Department supports the educational process by providing students with quality nutritious meals in accordance with the USDA. Students are offered a wide variety of nutritious food daily.
The Food Service Department is also responsible for the distribution and collection of applications for free and reduced lunch, ensuring that all students are able to afford a healthy nutritious breakfast and lunch.
