I am delighted to welcome you to 5th grade! It is my goal to ensure that your child’s experience this year is filled with personal growth both academically and socially.
Allow me to tell you a bit about myself. I grew up in the Harrisburg area and attended Susquehanna Township schools before moving to and graduating from East Pennsboro Area School District. From there I moved to Los Angeles and then to New York City where I worked in film for eight years. Realizing that my true passion was not in movies but rather, in the classroom, I returned to Central Pennsylvania to complete my undergraduate degree in elementary and early childhood education at Penn State Harrisburg. I currently reside in the district with my husband, Mike, our 2-year-old daughter, Mollie and our feisty cat, Holly.
This will be my first year teaching at Thomas W. Holtzman and my fifth year teaching overall. I began my career as a long-term substitute in the Lower Dauphin school system where I also had the pleasure of working in several special education classrooms, including Autism Support and Emotional Support. Later, I taught in a combined 3rd and 4th grade classroom at Infinity Charter School for three years. I am ecstatic to be returning to my elementary alum and to be teaching two of my favorite subjects, Social Studies and Science!
Outside of school, I love to perform experiments in my kitchen (i.e. cook), travel with my husband and toddler, visit the library/museums/historical sites/etc., and do yoga. I am absolutely passionate about learning new things and am excited to bring that passion into my classroom this year!
I look forward to getting to know you and your children in the coming days. Please feel free to contact me via phone or email if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to say "Hi!"
