Important Video Message from Superintendent Dr. Tamara Willis

Beginning on Monday, November 23rd, all Susquehanna Township School District schools will temporarily close for in-person learning. All students currently reporting to their assigned school buildings will transition to All Remote Access (ARA), the district’s virtual learning model. All district schools will reopen for in-person learning on Monday, January 11, 2021. Parents and guardians that opted to remain virtual for the 2nd marking period will continue with ARA classes.

This decision was made based on the district’s Health and Safety Plan and School Closure Decision Matrix, which are based on guidance from the PA Department of Education (PDE) and PA Department of Health (PA DOH).

  • Thursday, November 19th: Last day of in-person learning
  • Monday, November 23rd: First day virtual learning
  • Thursday, November 26th – Monday, November 30th: District Closed for Thanksgiving Break
  • Tuesday, December 1st – Wednesday, December 23rd: Virtual learning continues
  • Thursday, December 24th – Friday, January 1st: District closed for Winter Break
  • Monday, January 4th: Virtual Learning resumes
  • Monday, January 11th: District schools reopen for in-person learning

During the closure, all students will be required to login to ARA classes daily. CLICK HERE for detailed ARA information. Teachers and staff will continue to report to their buildings to deliver virtual instruction for all students. Offices will remain open to service parents/guardians and members of the community. However, we will continue to practice social distancing and hold meetings virtually when possible.

Building administrators will be sending out additional communication throughout the week. In addition, staff will be available to assist with any academic challenges. Please contact your building administration for additional support. For support with technology and student devices, please email support@hannasd.org

In addition, the district will resume meal pick up for all students. Meal distributions will begin on Friday, November 20th from 4pm – 6pm at STHS and will take place every Friday.

In addition to monitoring for symptoms, the district will begin offering on-site COVID-19 testing for all students and staff. More information on testing availability and dates will be shared this week. Please CLICK HERE to watch an informational video on the district’s on-site testing procedures. We encourage all students and family members to continue to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19. Please CLICK HERE for the Symptom Monitoring Tool. Please remember that returning to in-person learning is a community effort.  We ask that everyone do their part by wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, limit gathering sizes (especially during the upcoming holiday weekend) and frequently washing hands.

The decision to temporarily move students to virtual learning was not made lightly and we are committed to the continued education of all students. As the local, county, state and national cases of COVID-19 rises, cases and quarantines in the district have also increased. By temporarily moving all students to ARA, the district hopes to do its part in mitigating the spread of COVID-19 among our students, staff, and the community.

In partnership,

STSD Administration
